Research Development Support

The Research Development (RD) team in FAS Research Administration Services provides support to FAS and SEAS faculty seeking internal and external grant and fellowship funding.

Finding Funding

FAS Research Development helps faculty identify funding opportunities to support research, equipment, conferences, travel, sabbatical, exhibitions, digital projects, publications, and more. Our team offers individual consultations and customized funding searches. We can also help faculty set up individual funding alerts using commercial databases available to all Harvard affiliates. Lastly, we also help faculty develop funding plans so they can plan their grant writing activities in a strategic and efficient manner.

Proposal Development

Research Development is available to provide proposal development advice throughout the application process. We can provide support for individual investigators and large scale proposal development for teams. We maintain a library of successful sample proposals and can review proposal drafts to provide feedback on a draft’s responsiveness to review criteria. We also work with faculty and administrators to develop the non-disciplinary elements of proposals, including broader impacts, management plans, and more. We can also provide you with timelines, checklists, and other tools for proposal development.

Navigating Resources

Research Development offers workshops on grantsmanship, facilitates visits from major federal sponsors and arranges one on one meetings with program officers who visit campus. We can help you set up automated weekly funding alerts with relevant opportunities delivered to your inbox on a weekly basis. Our website offers a comprehensive list of Harvard’s internal funding opportunities, as well as lists of funding opportunities to support equipment, sabbatical leave, and funding opportunities for postdoctoral scholars.
