Office of Naval Research (ONR): Sabbatical Leave Program

Eligibility: Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident, and must hold a position with teaching or research university at a U.S. college or university. Some Navy labs may require security clearance.

Deadline Month: Rolling: six months prior to proposed start date 

Description: The ONR Sabbatical Leave Program provides an opportunity for university faculty to engage in scholarly, research, or other academic activities that will enhance the faculty member’s further contributions to their institution. All work must be completed on site at the sponsoring US Navy Laboratory. Although directed toward science and engineering research, the program is open to all disciplines. The Sabbatical Leave Program offers fellowships for a minimum of one semester and a maximum of one year. At the Navy lab’s discretion, the PI may bring an undergrad or grad student to assist with the research.
