Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS): Postdoctoral Fellowships in Japan

Eligibility: Candidate must be a citizen of a country that has diplomatic relations with Japan and must have obtained their doctoral degree within six years of the date the fellowship goes into effect. Japanese citizens or Japan permanent residents are not eligible. 

Deadline Month: September, January, and June (Short Term Program); August and April (Standard Program)

Description: To promote international scientific cooperation, the JSPS encourages highly qualified researchers from around the world to conduct joint research activities with colleagues at Japanese universities and research institutes. JSPS offers short-term (1-12 months) postdoctoral fellowship programs, each with different eligibility requirements. Longer-term fellowships from 12-24 months are also available.
