Eligibility: Applicants must be in a mentored postdoctoral position or have been accepted to join a lab in the U.S. and have no more than 7 years of postdoctoral research experience at the time of the application due date.

Description: HHMI initiatives foster inclusive scientific environments where scientists from all backgrounds can thrive. The Hanna H. Gray Fellows competition supports postdoctoral scientists who show exceptional promise as they launch careers in academic science, equipping them to pursue bold and creative scientific research as they transition to independent faculty careers. The program is open to researchers dedicated to basic research from both doctoral and/or medical training paths in the biomedical and life science disciplines, including, but not limited to, plant sciences, evolutionary biology, biophysics, chemical biology, biomedical engineering, and computational biology. Fellows will receive funding for their postdoctoral training and, if eligible, in their early career years as independent faculty. The program includes opportunities for career development, including mentoring and active involvement in the HHMI scientific community.
