Burroughs Wellcome Fund: Career Awards at the Scientific Interface

Eligibility: Limited to citizens or permanent or temporary residents of Canada and the US. Applicants need to have received their doctoral degree within 5 years of the full application deadline, unless Burroughs Wellcome Fund has granted an exception. Must have completed at least 12 months but no more than 60 months of postdoctoral research experience (in a research laboratory) at the time of application. Candidates must have at least one first-author publication in a peer reviewed journal. Candidates must not hold nor have accepted a career transition award supporting both a postdoctoral and faculty phase.

Deadline Month: August (LOI) and January (full proposal, if invited)

Description: These grants—providing support over five years—are intended to foster the early career development of researchers who have transitioned or are transitioning from training environments in the physical/mathematical/computational sciences or engineering into postdoctoral work in the biological sciences, and who are dedicated to pursuing a career in academic research.
