Proposal Preparation and Submission Systems

Federal Systems

Federal sponsors use a variety of systems. See OSP’s site on registering for sponsors' systems to obtain access to the following:

  • NIH eRA Commons/Assist ID
  • NSF Research.gov ID
  • ProposalCentral Account
  • Workspace/Grants.gov Account

When preparing a proposal, it is important to plan ahead to ensure that PIs, department administrators, and other key personnel have appropriate access to sponsors’ systems and portals, to submit, view, and update proposal submissions and subsequent required documentation.

Non-Federal Systems

Many non-federal sponsors (foundations, corporations, non-profits, etc.), make use of customized online portals or third-party systems and platforms, such as Proposal CENTRAL, Fluxx, and GrantHub, for their respective grant proposal submissions. See sponsor guidelines for instructions on accessing these non-federal systems.

Harvard Systems

Sponsored Research Administrators (SRAs) use GMAS, the Grant Management Application Suite, to submit applications and other request types for approval. The Department's Authorized Requestor should request GMAS access for the SRA from Financial Systems Solutions (FSS). Once access is confirmed, users log in to GMAS using their Harvard ID and PIN. All Investigators are automatically given access to GMAS to sign off on their own proposals.
