Description: The Folger Institute at the Folger Shakespeare Library awards research fellowships to create a high-powered, multidisciplinary community of inquiry, in which researchers share interests in the history and literature, art and performance, philosophy, religion, and politics of the early modern world. Applications are evaluated based on the proposed topic’s impact, relevance to the field, originality and sophistication of the scholar’s approach, feasibility, and expected use of Folger collections. The Folger Institute offers long-term fellows the option to take up to three months of the nine month award virtually, as well as short-term fellowships for one to three months that may be partially or fully virtual.
