Bill Thompson

Research Administration Specialist

Bill Thompson is currently a temporary Research Administration Specialist working with the FAS Office of Research Administration (FORA). In this role, Bill provides temporary sponsored research support to departments, including life cycle management of awards, training and onboarding of staff, review of departmental policies and procedures, assistance with compliance implementation and monitoring, filling in for staff vacancies at all levels, and general problem-solving. 

Bill began his Harvard career in the Psychology Department where he worked for many years as a research assistant and lab and project manager. Pivoting toward administration, he subsequently worked in sponsored research management in the Department of Stem Cell and Regenerative Biology where he served for nearly ten years as the Associate Director of Sponsored Research. Most recently, as part of his work with FORA, Bill served as Interim Associate Director of Finance and Research Administration in his original ‘home department’ of Psychology. Bill brings a passion for teaching, training, education and scientific research to his work and enjoys learning from each new assignment across the FAS’s varied landscape.
