As the Chief Research Administration Officer for the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Kris Monahan oversees the full lifecycle of research administration. With more than two decades of experience in higher education, she has led research programs and strategic initiatives at institutions including Providence College, Wellesley College, and Bridgewater State University.

Kris established the Sponsored Research Office at Providence College in 2011 and most recently served as its Senior Director of Sponsored Projects and Research Compliance. She brings a deep understanding of complex academic systems and a strong commitment to supporting faculty and advancing institutional research capacity.

A nationally recognized leader in the field, Kris is a past President of the National Council of University Research Administrators (NCURA), where she also served on the Board of Directors and as Director of the Peer Review Program. She has authored numerous publications on research administration, including a 2024 book chapter on the history of the profession in North America, and frequently presents at national and international conferences.

Kris holds a Ph.D. in Education Policy, a Master of Public Administration, and a degree in Psychology. She began her career as a licensed social worker, a foundation that continues to inform her collaborative and service-focused leadership style.
