Faculty of Arts and Sciences (FAS) Hosts New Faculty Institute

September 3, 2019

On Tuesday, August 27th, the research development team presented a session for twenty new faculty at the FAS New Faculty Institute (NFI) entitled “Introduction to Research Development.” The session was sponsored by the FAS Office for Faculty Affairs, a home base of support for faculty and research scholars at the Faculty of Arts and Sciences (FAS). After providing an overview of research development resources and support services for new faculty, the team lead small group discussions by research area to provide more specific information on finding and applying for funding; the team also answered questions new faculty had on seeking funding and grantsmanship. Following the NFI, the team will be scheduling one on one meetings with faculty to learn more about their specific areas of research and anticipated funding needs. The team’s initial goal is to help faculty create a funding plan that can be shared and discussed with chairs and mentors. The team will also continue to support faculty by providing grantsmanship advice and proposal development support as they begin to apply for funding.
